Character Name: Chronormu
Series: World of Warcraft
Canon Point: Post-Warlords of Draenor
Summary/History: You’ll find her background here. The history of her flight is here.
Personality:
Since the Titan Aman'Thul first gave the Bronze Dragonflight their powers over time, the Bronze dragons have isolated themselves from the mortals of Azeroth. They always keep to themselves and if they must speak to mortals, it is in the interest of preventing a colossal disaster. All except for Chronormu. Little is known of Chronormu prior to her role as quest-giver in Andorhal; it is possible she was once as stoic and disinterested in the lives of mortals as the rest of her flight. It is also possible that she has always been interested in their lives. Regardless of her history, Chronormu is exceptionally friendly for a bronze dragon. In order to better blend in while researching anomalies in time, she takes the form of a gnome and calls herself Chromie, saying, “I am comfortable with such familiarity.”
Chromie is quite sympathetic to mortals’ plights. In Andorhal, when she is brought the ring of Darrowshire soldier Joseph Redpath, she pities his terrible end. During the battle between Darrowshire, a human settlement, and the undead Scourge, Joseph was slaughtered and then resurrected to fight for the Scourge. Alliance soldiers killed him a second and final time but his corrupted soul persisted. Chromie worked with Joseph’s living brother Carlin and the player to change his fate, freeing his soul to unite with his deceased daughter and wife. She doesn’t make a habit of rewriting history for individuals but she will devote herself to certain cases.
Because of her familiarity with space and time, these things no longer surprise her. Periodically they confuse her. And periodically she confuses time and space and, on the occasion, loses them a little bit. This quote in-game is attributed to her: "Lost time is never found again. Oh, never mind I found it." Though she's very serious about her job, her personality, again, is warm and even jovial.
On the subject of time, Chromie is very careful. Since Joseph was corrupted in his first death, she knew he had to be corrupted a second time to keep the flow of time steady. She’s willing to use her power and knowledge to make minor changes to the time stream, but she’s unwilling to make massive changes. For example, the Infinite Dragonflight, a corrupted future Bronze Dragonflight, attempted to keep Arthas from discovering Scourge tampering in Stratholme. Chromie enlisted players to remove the spells on Scourge-infected grain and asked that they help Arthas cull Stratholme as its people turn into mindless Scourge monsters. The Infinite Dragonflight believed preventing Arthas from culling Stratholme will prevent the unspeakable horrors he will later perform as the Lich King, leader of the Scourge, but Chromie knew better.
Chromie is also a very fair and loyal individual. She has experience acting as an ambassador for the Bronze Dragonflight. She and other bronze dragons met with ambassadors from other flights at the top of Wyrmrest Temple to form the Wyrmrest Accord. The Wyrmrest Accord was an alliance of the Red, Green, Black and Bronze Dragonflights dedicated to protecting magic users from the Blue Dragonflight, as its leader Malygos had gone rogue. Its second goal was to protect the Dragonblight, the graveyard to which all dragons return before they die, from those who would resurrect undead dragons.
She continues to act as an unofficial ambassador between her Dragonflight and mortals because of the actions of Kairozdormu. Hungry for power, Kairozdormu broke Garrosh Hellscream, a violent and genocidal orc, out of his prison and took him to his home world Draenor, but in an alternate timeline and thirty-five years in the past. His plan was to travel through the time ways and cultivate an infinite number of Orcish Hordes that would give him endless power. But Garrosh killed Kairozdormu and abandoned his body and angry spirit to fulfill his own desires. Chromie, Archmage Khadgar and the player traveled to Nagrand and followed a series of time anomalies that pieced the story together. They eventually encountered Kairozdormu’s spirit and laid him to rest. She promised she would help right his wrongs.
Powers/Abilities:
Time and time manipulation are part of the arcane school of magic. As a member of the Bronze Dragonflight, Chromie has a number of time-related abilities, thus making her an expert arcane user. Unfortunately Bronze dragons are so mysterious, the breadth of their powers are largely unknown. What is known is that Nozdormu, Aspect of the dragonflight, gave the last of his powers to defeat Deathwing, thereby crippling the powers of all bronze dragons. Where they could once create temporal portals and take other actions to repair time, those powers have been lost.
Bronze dragons also can no longer accurately see all of time; they can only catch glimpses. The only way to get around this is to use magic time-connected items to create an artifact that will look into time for the dragons. Though she’s unable to do this without the Sands of Time, Chromie can still create a pocket watch that can transport others across time and space. The creation of objects out of thin air is another arcane ability, further proving she is an experienced caster.
Bronze dragons remain so attuned to time that they live in the past, present and future. So while she cannot fully see all of time, Chromie is still in many different places and times at once. She knows people’s names before they meet and she can learn even more about a person by holding something important to them.
What all bronze dragons can still do is slip between points within the time streams. They also have the ability to send mortals back in time. Zidormi can transport plays back in time in both Theramore and in the Blasted Lands. Chromie retains this power too, along with the ability to sense anomalies in time and to magically outline them for mortal eyes. She can undo a person’s wounds as well as rewind their time if they die so it stands to reason that even though she’s no longer as powerful as she once was, she can still stop, start, rewind and slow time for others.
Bronze dragons also incorporate time and arcane magic into their attacks; Kairoz can do heavy damage to players using ripples in time. Chromie’s unlikely to use anything like this; she follows strict ethical codes long set by Nozdormu. She also has normal dragon powers. All dragons can shift between dragon and mortal form with Chromie’s a gnome. In dragon form she is as tall as a tyrannosaurus rex. She can fly, carry mortals, has a sand breath attack that probably hurts a ton and teeth, and has fangs, claws and a long, heavy tail should she ever need to physically defend herself.
